Trade Finance is generally considered to involve less risk for banks than other mainstream forms of bank financing.   Traditionally banks have had very low loss provisions when providing finance or securing trade deals using traditional trade finance instruments, such as letters of credit or guarantees

The independent demand guarantee has played a critical role in the advancement of international business over the last 3 decades with the use of guarantees continuing to increase.

The advent of the financial crisis has accelerated the use of demand guarantees as contracting parties strive to cover the risks of no performance or non payment with contracting counterparties,

The newly revised URDG 758 of the international chamber of commerce will provide the perfect balance of risk coverage and the flexibility to support the increased global demand for demand guarantees.

This workshop is delivered by a member of the ICC Task Force on Guarantees and a long standing member of the ICC Banking Commission

  • The obligations of banks under the new URDG 758 rules will be explained in detail.

Mr. Vincent O’Brien is a highly experienced practitioner of International Trade Finance being a long-standing member of the ICC Banking Commission. He has more than 20 years international trade banking experience and has delivered trade finance technical assistance and training in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Mr. O’Brien is a member of the ICC’s Forfaiting Task Force (Discounting of Bank Deferred Payment Obligations) as well as a member of the ICC’s Task Force on Guarantees.

Mr. O’Brien is a regular and respected contributor to international trade finance publications such as Documentary Credits Insight, Global Trade Review, LC Monitor and Documentary Credit World and he has successfully acted as expert witness for banks in cases the application of ICC rules.

Vincent acts as technical trade advisor to China Systems Corporation, the largest trade finance systems vendor in the World.

He was recently appointed as the ICC Banking Commission Representative to the WTO Expert Group on the Financial Crisis.

The IFC FIT Initiative Program is a very practical e-learning program which has been designed with two important goals:

1- to train and certify international trade finance professionals in their core area of expertise and thus enhance their productivity in their day-to-day roles

2- to build an online global network of international trade and finance professionals who will share knowledge and experience on an online platform specifically developed for the program – a powerful tool in the resolution of common trade finance queries and issues.

Notwithstanding, the continued importance of Letters of Credit in financing such trade it has been identified by the International Chamber of Commerce that there is a need to apply other methods of payment and finance to further facilitate the development of export sales from Vietnam.

Chương trình Quản Trị Chuyên Nghiệp Cao Cấp được giảng dạy theo giáo trình của Chương trình Thạc sĩ Quản Trị Kinh Doanh (MBA) của Đại Học American Heritage University của Hoa Kỳ. Chương trình được giảng dạy theo phương pháp đào tạo song ngữ Anh – Việt bởi đội ngũ giảng viên có trình độ Tiến Sĩ – Thạc sĩ sẽ giúp cho doanh nhân Việt nam vượt qua được rào cản ngôn ngữ để tiếp nhận kiến thức quản trị hiện đại của Mỹ một cách hiệu quả nhất.

ĐIỀU KIỆN NHẬN HỌC BỔNG VÀ TIÊU CHUẨN NHẬP HỌC

  • Học viên phải có trình độ Cử nhân (tốt nghiệp Đại học) trở lên  hoặc học vị tương đương với 5 năm kinh nghiệm làm việc.
  • Trường họp Học viên chưa tốt nghiệp cử nhân, nhưng đang đảm nhiệm các vị trí quản lý cao cấp và tuổi trên 35 cũng được khuyến khích tham gia chương trình.
  • Tất cả các trường hợp sẽ được xét duyệt bởi Hội đồng Học thuật EDS Academy.

In conjunction with the residential EDS Professional Management Program, EDS Advance Academy also organizes a Welcoming Dinner for all the participants at Golden BBQ Steamboat Restaurant (www.goldenbbqpg.com), one of the most famous BBQ, steam boat and hot plate restaurant in the city of Georgetown, Penang.

This gives the participants opportunities to socialize, to get to know each other and build networking among participants, EDS faculty members and EDS management teams.

George Town is a Historic Cities of the Straits of Malacca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Industrial Visit

Additional unique features of the EDS Professional Management Program involves organized study tours to visit successful industries located in Penang, where participants were granted access to view high profile multi-nationals or local successful public listed companies from inside out.
